MRCI is proud to announce that NRCI is the first Business Crime Reduction Partnership to receive the MRCI Excellence Award.

      

The Northampton Retail Crime Initiative has been at the forefront of business crime reduction partnerships since 2001, leading the way for other similar initiatives to follow.

It has successfully worked to support its members in Northampton, providing them with an efficient service. It has gathered data, analyzed it and distributed intelligence to members, partners and others within the wider policing family. NRCI has helped to identify persistent and prolific local criminals, and also those moving between Northampton and other local towns, and even those further afield. This has helped to create and sustain a safer and secure environment for shoppers and visitors, and a more attractive trading environment for businesses.

NRCI has also been a strong and active partner in the Midlands Regional Crime Initiative, which enables and supports local partnerships to share intelligence and good practice between them. With NRCI’s help we have been able to see patterns of thieves moving from town to town to avoid recognition, and have been able to co-ordinate the sharing of appropriate intelligence in order to detect, deter and prosecute travelling retail thieves.

By working in partnership, NRCI has increased the impact and effect our business crime reduction initiatives are having on prolific thieves and teams of professional shoplifters.
